Marquise Engagement Rings

The marquise is an ellipse that comes to a point at both ends — boat-shaped, eye-shaped, and unmistakable at any distance. The name (and the legend of its commissioning at the French court) gives away its character: this is a cut with theatre in it. Worn vertically it is the most elongating shape there is, covering more of the finger per carat than any other outline; set sideways, east-west, it becomes something modern and low-slung.
